6 Reasons Why Women are Choosing Legal Cannabis Over Alcohol

De: Rachel Cultura

Did you know that the harmful use of alcohol results in the death of 2.5 million people annually? In fact, nearly 4% of all deaths are related to alcohol. Cannabis has not resulted in a single death. Yet, alcohol is a legal substance in many countries today while marijuana remains illegal. While the debate over medical and recreational marijuana continues worldwide, many people today are rediscovering the power of the cannabis plant. According to a poll from CBS News – more than half of the women in the United States surveyed openly support legal cannabis. From marijuana mommy bloggers to business professionals, women are increasingly choosing cannabis for a healthier lifestyle.

Just check out these 6 reasons why women are choosing legal cannabis over alcohol.

#1.) Cannabis Contains Essential Nutrients
It’s no secret that sipping on fruity cocktails for hours on end can pack on the pounds. Not only are these concoctions chocked full of sugar – alcohol also contains empty calories. Which means it offers the body zero nutritional value. Worse yet, drinking alcohol also reduces the amount of fat our bodies burn for energy.

The cannabis plant on the other hand is a nutritional powerhouse. Cannabis is a vegetable full of vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. Although smoking cannabis can lead to the munchies, having healthy snacks on hand can prevent unwanted weight gain. Plus, juicing raw cannabis supplies the body with countless nutrients.

Needless to say, many ladies are finding the cannabis plant to be a healthier choice

#2.) Cannabis Strengthens the Immune System
Did you know that excessive alcohol intake harms the immune system? Producing a nutritional deficiency, alcohol deprives the body of precious immune-boosting nutrients. In addition, when alcohol is consumed in excess it also suppresses the ability of white blood cells to multiply.

While many people do not consider themselves to be “excessive” drinkers, three or more drinks can qualify as overconsumption. Women, who tend to be smaller than average in comparison to men, can be especially vulnerable to the harmful effects of alcohol.

Cannabis contains cannabinoids, which actually reduce inflammatory responses. In addition, scientists also now believe that cannabinoids play a role in modulating neurogenesis and neurodegenertion. Rather than breaking their immune systems down, ladies are turning to legal cannabis.

#3.) Cannabis Protects Brain Cells
Chances are, you’ve probably heard that drinking alcohol kills brain cells. While it’s not exactly true, alcohol does damage brain cells. After one too many rounds, our liver is not able to process the amount of alcohol within the body.

Which means the alcohol travels across the body until it can be processed. Eventually, the alcohol reaches the brain where it inhibits the communication between dendrites – responsible for sending and receiving information between neurons.

However, cannabis helps the brain. Researchers in Italy revealed that a chemical in cannabis, cannabichromene (CBC) boosts the growth of developing brain cells. A study in The International Journal of Pharmacology found that cannabidiol (CBD) is a key contributor to neurogenesis of the brain. Perhaps even more astonishingly, scientists have also shown that marijuana may benefit memory by stopping, or even reversing, brain aging!

Which may explain why so many savvy ladies are opting for legal cannabis over alcohol.

#4.) Cannabis Enhances Sex
A small amount of alcohol isn’t likely to have an impact on your sex life. But even moderate amounts of alcohol can have serious side effects. According to an Ipsos–MORI survey from the Family Planning Association, 70 percent of people who had regretted a sexual encounter said that alcohol had been a factor.

While alcohol can impact a man and woman’s sex life, women can be especially vulnerable. From contracting STDS to unexpected pregnancies, countless women have experienced life-altering effects from using alcohol.

Cannabis, when used responsibly, can improve a woman’s sex life. After all, marijuana is an aphrodisiac. Which means it has the power to enhance sexual desire. Better yet, marijuana can help some women achieve orgasm. Scientists believe this phenomena has something to do with the CB1 receptor in the brain. When cannabis is consumed, the receptor is activated and enhances physical stimulation. Leading to powerful physical sensations.

#5.) Cannabis Regulates Metabolism
The human body is not capable of storing alcohol. Which means that alcohol must be metabolized right away. Not only does this put extra strain on the body, it also has a negative effect on several other metabolic processes.

Primarily, alcohol impairs the body’s ability to make and maintain healthy levels of glucose. (blood sugar) And maintaining balanced blood sugar levels is a key function of the metabolic system. Over time, heavy drinkers can develop glucose intolerance or even become diabetic.

However, cannabis poses none of these risks. While very little research has been done regarding cannabis’ effect on metabolism, tests on mice revealed that the compounds in cannabis boosted their metabolism. In fact, cannabis also led to lower levels of fat in their levels and reduced cholesterol in their blood stream.

#6.) Cannabis Fights Cancer
Each year, over 12.7 million people discover they have cancer. Epidemiological evidence suggests there is indeed a casual association between alcohol consumption and cancers of the:

  • Esophagus
  • Liver
  • Rectum
  • Breast
  • Oropharynx
  • Colon
  • Larynx

According to Jennie Connor of the preventative and social medicine department of Otago University in New Zealand there is more than a link or statistical associations between alcohol and cancer. In fact, a study published in the scientific journal of Addiction concluded alcohol consumptions is a direct cause of the disease.

Yet, cannabis has shown to produce the contrary. CBD, one of 60 compounds n the cannabis plant, has shown to stop the growth of cancer cells. A laboratory test of cannabidiol (CBD) revealed that it caused cancer cell death while having minimal effect on normal breast cells. That’s not all. Studies of metastatic breast cancer showed cannabinoids may also lessen the development, growth, and spread of tumors.

Wives, mothers, daughters, and friends – women want to lead healthier lives. Cannabis is a natural life-enhancing substance. Unlike alcohol, women who use cannabis are supplying their body with a mind, body, and soul treatment. An ancient medicine, legal cannabis should be available to all.
