Did you know that the size of the pot limits plant growth?

When choosing the different items necessary to obtain a small crop, you should take into account some elements that are sometimes not given as much importance as they require. One of these elements are pots. From Kannabia Seed Company, as a bank of marijuana seeds we want to give you the best tips for the correct growth of your seeds.

The choice of pot for your marijuana will also depend on the type and variety of plant chosen and the results you are looking for.

Several variations are possible: between feminized and autoflowering seed, and between potted and indoor cultivation.

Autoflowering seeds vs. Feminized

For autoflowering varieties, the best option is to plant the seedlings directly in their final planter, since the life cycle of these plants is very short. Also, as they do not grow very tall, small or medium sized-pots are perfectly adequate and will not limit the growth of marijuana. As a guide, you should allow 7.5 liters per 30 cm of height. For feminized seeds, it is recommended not to plant directly in the final planter, but keep the seedlings and the small plants in smaller pots, until the root system is sufficiently developed that the roots fill the pot and need a larger space to keep developing, giving better results and greater productivity.

Indoor vs. outdoor cultivation

For interior grows, it is recommended that the pots do not exceed 11 liters, in order to take advantage of the space and control the height of the plant, so the light will reach all parts of the plant in a homogeneous way. For outdoor marijuana crops grown in pots, it is better to use a large pot so the plant can realize its full potential. A recommended capacity would be 25 liters. You should also pay attention to the color of the pot, especially in warm places.

Black and small pots can be harmful to the plant, because the combination of a pot that absorbs the rays of the sun, the moist soil and the hot soil of a terrace, can result in a plant that does not have a sufficiently developed root system. The best advice is to use white or porexpan pots of at least 10 liters. New generations of autoflowering seeds are usually larger than earlier generations, but although the plant is larger, it is still recommended that the planter is no more than 20 liters.
