The 1st edition of HEMP BUSINESS DAY will take place on Friday, April 26, as part of the Expogrow show, which for the eighth consecutive year will gather the entire cannabis and hemp industry sector at the FICOBA Arena (Irun, Euskadi) .

The list of specialists gathering on Friday, April 26 at FICOBA to participate in the first Congress of Hemp and the CBD of Southern Europe continues to expand. The Hemp Business Day presents five new panelists from Greece, France and Spain who will accompany the six guests announced by the organization at the end of January. With these additions, this event has already secured the presence of European countries such as Italy, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Switzerland as well as the vision of experts from Canada and the United States. Originally from Greece, the surgeon Vangelis Mitsis, developed his work in Barcelona as head of laboratory and executive director of Ekati Alchemy Lab S. L., specializing in the analysis of cannabinoids and minor terpenes. From the Agroalimentario Technological Centre of Extremadura (CTAEX) attends the Graduate in Chemical Sciences Rosa De la Torre, responsible for the Department of Food Science and Safety (Analytical Services and RDI Projects). This Spanish researcher is currently participating in the project Supraautonomic Operative Group GOCI, on the Standardization in Spain of Industrial Hemp and all its applications.

To the list of planned speakers is joined by Miguel Torres, lawyer and professor of Private International Law of the Law School of the University of Barcelona who advised the first company to obtain authorization by the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) for the cultivation of cannabis for research purposes. Likewise, one of the speakers in charge of opening the program will be Javier Rodríguez Saiz, who carries out his work for the company Harmony and is the founder of the first Spanish federation of companies to operate in the field of hemp and the CBD: Active Spain . Another partner in the same company, Arnaud Cohen (founder of ACTIVE France and Innovative Venture) will speak about the work carried out by his e-liquids company within this new and emerging market.

The five new experts participating in the conferences of Hemp Business Day are joined by the six guests already announced: Gianpaolo Grassi (Italy), chief researcher of CREA-CI; the lawyer Shawn Hauser of the prestigious North American firm Vicente Sederberg; BorisBanas (Slovakia), activist and co-founder of Hemp Seed Oil Europe Ltd; Tomas Sadilek (Czech Republic), Director of Government Affairs of the International Cannabis and Cannabinoid Institute; Carl Martel Canadian scientist and researcher of Advanced Hemp Technologies; and Simon Anderfuhren (Switzerland) professor and researcher in international relations and one of the best qualified professionals to explain the Swiss CBD situation.

Program

The conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a presentation analyzing “The cannabis industry for non-psychoactive purposes: trends and market estimates 2020-2030”. The multiple industrial applications of cannabidiol will be the subject of the second table entitled: “Developments of the CBD and hemp markets in Europe and in the world: Food, cosmetics, e-liquids and medicines”. The rebirth of hemp production will star in the last talk of the morning dedicated to “Hemp Derivatives, New Technologies and Sustainability; technical challenges and market opportunities: Fibers, construction, infrastructures, bioenergies and composite materials “.

After a break for a business lunch, participants in the Congress will attend a presentation on the “Legality of Industrial Hemp at a national and international level”. Next, the focus will be on the steps that are taking place in North America with the “Approval of the Epidiolex and implementation of the Farm Bill: new perspectives in the US”. The last round table of the day will feature the outstanding presence of the CANNA Foundation to reflect, together with other specialists, on “Quality control in products derived from hemp and CBD: laboratories, regulations and quality management systems.”
